Saheb is designed to support salah, dhikr, Qibla direction, and trusted Islamic references while keeping personal app data minimal and understandable.

Information Stored On Your Device
Saheb may store the following data locally on your device:
- Prayer settings, including location, calculation method, madhab, time format, notification preferences, sound mode, and Hijri date adjustment.
- Prayer marks and journey or challenge progress.
- Verified dhikr and dua bookmarks.
- Tasbih Counter state, including selected dhikr mode, custom dhikr label, target, count, loop or session count, vibration setting, and sound setting.
- Onboarding completion state for the current install.
- Local troubleshooting logs used to diagnose reliability issues.
Local data remains on your device unless you choose an optional backup or export feature.
Optional Google Sign-In
Google Sign-In is optional. Guest mode remains fully supported. If you sign in with Google, Saheb uses Firebase Authentication to authenticate your account. Saheb may store authentication session metadata needed to keep you signed in. Saheb does not store your Google password.
Signing in does not automatically upload your local Saheb data.
Optional Cloud Backup And Restore
If you choose to use Google backup and restore, Saheb stores selected app data in Firebase Cloud Firestore under your signed-in account.
Cloud backup may include:
- Prayer marks.
- Challenge progress.
- Verified dhikr and dua bookmark IDs.
- App settings needed to restore your Saheb experience.
- Backup metadata such as app version, backup time, device name when available, and summary counts.
Cloud backup does not intentionally include:
- Onboarding completion.
- Tasbih Counter state.
- Exact location history.
- Private journals or free-form religious notes.
- Passwords.
- Local troubleshooting logs.
If a cloud backup exists, Saheb asks whether to restore cloud data, keep device data, or cancel. Backup and restore actions require user choice.
Location
Saheb uses location to calculate prayer times, show Qibla direction, and support nearby masjid access. Depending on your settings and platform permissions, this may include approximate or precise device location.
Location is used to provide app functionality. Saheb does not sell location data and does not store exact location history in cloud backup by default.
You can deny location permission and use a preset or manually selected location instead.
Notifications
Saheb uses local notifications for prayer reminders and optional Friday reminders. Notification scheduling may use Android exact alarm capability when available so reminders can be more reliable.
Notification preferences are stored as app settings. Saheb does not use notifications for advertising in v1.0.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase Authentication for optional Google Sign-In.
- Firebase Cloud Firestore for optional cloud backup and restore.
- Google Play Services as part of Android and Google Sign-In behavior.
Saheb v1.0 does not enable ads, subscriptions, RevenueCat, Google Billing, or AdMob.
Third-Party Audio
Saheb includes Adhan notification audio from the Archive.org adhan.notifications collection under Public Domain Mark 1.0. The files used are documented in the project third-party audio license notes.
Data Sharing
Saheb does not sell user data. Saheb does not share your Saheb backup data publicly. Optional cloud backup is stored under your signed-in account path in Firebase Cloud Firestore.
Data may be processed by Google Firebase services when you choose Google Sign-In or cloud backup.
Data Retention And Deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it in the app where available, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
Cloud backup data remains in Firebase Cloud Firestore until it is replaced or deleted. For cloud backup deletion or privacy requests, contact feedback@saheb.app.
Children
Saheb is not specifically directed to children. The app should not be marketed as child-directed unless a separate family policy review is completed.
Religious Guidance Boundary
Saheb does not issue fatwas, simulate scholars, or replace qualified scholars or local imams. Guidance features route users to trusted sources and keep personal religious rulings outside the app.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as Saheb changes. If the policy changes, the effective date above will be updated.
